Maddie Reeves earned All-American honors at the NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships on Thursday night, finishing the 10,000 meters in eighth place.
Reeves crossed the finish line in a time of 34:39.33, becoming the first Sea Lion in PLNU Women's Track & Field history to become an NCAA All-American and earn points at the NCAA Championships.
The Point Loma record holder started strongly and was in second place through the first 1200 meters before remaining in the All-American places all the way through.
The senior improved upon her 13th place finish at last year's NCAA Championships in the same event.
Reeves will compete for Point Loma one more time on Saturday in the 5,000 meters at the NCAA Championships. The race is scheduled for 6:55 p.m. CT / 4:55 p.m. PT on Saturday.
She will become the first Sea Lion to race in multiple events at nationals, yet alone in the same year.
