Since the weather is usually warm and sunny year-round, outdoor events, activities and facilities abound including water sports, major attractions, annual festivals, professional sports, community fairs and parades, and more than 40 City recreation centers. But there are plenty of indoor attractions as well with an abundance of museums, art galleries, concert halls, and stage and movie theaters.
San Diego is known world-wide as a popular destination for major attractions including Sea World, San Diego Zoo, San Diego Wild Animal Park, Old Town State Park, Birch Aquarium at Scripps, Del Mar Thoroughbred Races, and Legoland California. The University's athletic facilities have often been called the most beautiful in America. The facilities include six tennis courts, soccer field, baseball field and gymnasium. The gymnasium can be used for a variety of functions including volleyball and basketball or as meeting space for groups of up to 2,500.
Most recently the soccer facility has gone under a $250,000 transformation in order to provide the men’s and women’s soccer programs the best possible playing surface. New irrigation, drainage, and a completely new grass surface have made the soccer field into one of the premier soccer facilities in Southern California. In combination with the location, this makes Point Loma soccer facility an absolute must see.
The athletic training clinic is a first-class facility which services all 11 of Point Loma’s varsity sports as well as our summer camps. The Athletic Training Clinic provides the highest level of service to the student-athletes at Point Loma Nazarene University and to the campers who visit in the summer. This includes the prevention, care, and rehabilitation of athletic injuries as well as helping to direct the nutritional, physiological, and psychological needs of the student-athlete. The care that the Athletic Training Staff provides is delivered with objectivity and a conscientious blend of concern for the healing of the athlete’s body, mind and spirit.
The Point Loma soccer camps will stay in one of the excellent dorms on campus. Many of the rooms will have ocean views and include large courtyards, laundry facilities, unit-style bathrooms, and kitchens. Housing on campus will provide you with an excellent overnight experience with only short walks to campus soccer and dining facilities.
