Jackie Auchard (then Volkert) played two seasons of softball at Point Loma, and earned All-GSAC and team MVP honors each year.
Jackie won 23 games in 1993 and led the NAIA with 244 strikeouts. In 1994, she posted a 1.44 ERA to go with another 16 wins and 210 strikeouts. Her 244 and 210 strikeouts are still one and two in the Point Loma softball record book. Despite playing just two seasons, Jackie still holds the school record for career strikeouts with 454. She is fifth all-time with 38 career wins, and fourth all-time with 419 innings pitched.
After her playing career was over, Jackie joined the Point Loma coaching staff and helped guide the program to its first-ever NAIA Region II Championship game in 1999. As recognition for her pitching prowess, Point Loma’s annual team award for most dominant pitcher was renamed as the “Volkert” award.
Jackie graduated from Point Loma in 1995 with a degree in exercise science. She currently works as a personal trainer in Medford, Oregon. She and husband, Daniel, are the proud parents to two children: Cheyanne and Levi.
