Paul Walker was an outstanding point guard for the PLNC Crusaders in 1982 and 1983. Following an “All CIF” high school career in basketball and tennis, Paul spent two years at Glendale Junior College in Los Angeles where he was an All-American League player in basketball.
Transferring to PLNC, Paul was a confident, respected, and inspiring floor leader who made his basketball teammates better. He was a terrific passer with great vision, an excellent ball-handler and could score from the outside. Paul was always at his best when running the fast-break, directing the offense, inspiring the defense, and performing in clutch situations. Paul was one of the key players in the Crusader’s march to a District Championship and a trip to the 1983 NAIA National Tournament in Kansas City.
Paul was a two-time All-League player, an All-District player, and a NCCAA All-American. He averaged over 10 points per game and led the team in both assists and in free throw percentages. In fact, in the PLNU basketball record book, he still ranks 5th and 7th among season assists, 8th in most career assists, and 7th and 10th in season free throw percentages.
Paul founded Walker Construction Company in 1989. He is also president and founder of the FC Barcelona USA Soccer Club (founded in 1999) which is one of the largest in the U.S. with over 900 members.
Paul resides in La Cañada with his wife of 20 years, Vivian, and their two sons, Preston (17) and Travis (16).
Paul, it is with deep appreciation of your outstanding basketball career at Point Loma Nazarene University and your family and community contribution then and now that we induct you into the Athletic Hall of Fame as a basketball athlete. Congratulations.
