PLNU Men's Basketball forward
Kaden Anderson was named PacWest Player of the Week, while PLNU Men's Basketball was selected as PacWest Team of the Week, the conference announced on Wednesday.
Anderson earned the weekly recognition for the ninth time in his career, and third time this season, while Point Loma received Team of the Week honors also for the third time this year.
The two-time PacWest Player of the Year has now eclipsed 20 points in his last five games, including twice in the past week.
On Thursday in an 80-54 win over San Diego Christian, he scored a game-high 30 points in the team's return from Christmas break.
Then on Tuesday, Anderson notched his fifth double-double of the season (26 points, 10 rebounds) in an 83-73 win over Hawaii Hilo, helping the Sea Lions take down the Vulcans in a battle of the PacWest's lone remaining unbeaten teams in conference play.
For the season, Anderson is averaging 22.5 points per game, which leads the PacWest and ranks sixth in NCAA Division II.
Anderson leads the country in total points (338), while also averaging a team-high 8.3 rebounds per game.
In addition to his nine career PacWest Player of the Week awards, Anderson has also received four other weekly PacWest honors (three PacWest Defender of the Week, one Freshman of the Week) in his career. His 13 weekly conference awards rank second in PacWest history.
Point Loma (12-3 overall, 7-0 PacWest), ranked No. 21 in the latest D2SIDA Media Poll, finds itself atop the conference standings and is currently on an eight-game winning streak.
PLNU returns to the court on Thursday to take on Hawaii Pacific. Tip-off is scheduled for 8:30 p.m. PST / 6:30 p.m. HST.
