(SAN DIEGO) For the second-straight year and third time overall, Point Loma has won the PacWest Academic Achievement Award.
In the 2023-24 school year, PLNU posted the highest student-athlete GPA (3.52) among all PacWest athletic departments to bring the conference's top academic honor back to The Point.
The Sea Lions also won the award in 2022-23 with the second-highest GPA (3.55) in PacWest history since the award's inception in 2007-08, and in 2019-20 with a previous conference record GPA of 3.50.
"We the faculty are proud of our student-athletes for winning such a distinguished award," PLNU Faculty Athletic Representative Dr. Tim Hall said. "This is a testament to the desire of these young people to excel in both the classroom and in their respective playing arenas.
"We want to congratulate both the coaches for their intentional recruiting, and especially all the student-athletes for this truly impressive accomplishment – well done."
PLNU has finished in the top-two in the PacWest Academic Achievement Award standings in each of the past seven years.
Point Loma also led the conference in 2023-24 with five PacWest Scholar-Athletes of the Year, as announced by the PacWest on Friday.
