PLNU junior forward Nyla Bailey earned MVP honors at the 2011 Surf N Slam Tournament by scoring 48 points in the two contests along with 20 rebounds, 6 blocks, 2 steals and 2 assists. Against NCAA DIII seventh-ranked UW Stevens Point, the Sea Lions trailed by 13 until Bailey took over. She scored the first 8 points of the second half and had 20 total points over the final 20 minutes of play to lift the team to an 8-point win. She was equally as dominate against Wellesley, recording a double-double (25 points, 11 boards) to go with 5 blocks, as PLNU prevailed late against their non-conference foe.
