Heather Leavitt, a sophomore outside hitter from Mesa, Ariz. (Red Mountain High School), was named the MVP of the Seaside Invitational after leading PLNU to a perfect 4-0 record. She hammered down 54 kills and had just 16 errors over the four matches to post a .273 hitting percentage. She opened the season by recording 13 kills and no errors while .419 in a win over Cal State Stanislaus. Then in the biggest match of the weekend Leavitt recorded a career-high 21 kills and 13 digs in a five-set win over Cal State Dominguez Hills.
