Jennifer Ballez, a senior forward from Chula Vista, Calif. (Bonita Vista HS), scored in the 75th minute against Cal State San Marcos to lift the Point Loma women's soccer team to a 1-0 win in its home opener. Ballez outraced the Cougars' goalie to a ball just outside the right side of the box and knocked it into the open net from 18 yards out for the game-winner. It was Ballez's first career game-winning goal.
