Aubrie Nex opened the season faster than ever, shaving 20 seconds off of her previous-best 6K time at the Cougar Challenge on Saturday in San Marcos.

The sophomore from Temecula, Calif. was the first Sea Lion to cross the finish line, finishing in 16th place out of 196 runners to earn her Sport Clips MVP of the Week.

Her time was 21:55.0, as she ran at a 5:53 mile pace. Nex and PLNU Cross Country will travel to Salem, Oregon to compete in the Charles Bowles Invitational on Saturday.
