Wil Bush

Wil Bush is in his third season as an assistant coach with the Sea Lions, after returning to his alma mater prior to the 2014-15 season. Bush is the coordinator for travel, director of scouting, oversees the team's academic progress, works with player skill development and assists in recruiting.

In his first season with the team, PLNU went 21-8 and earned a No. 5 seed in the PacWest Championships with a 13-7 record in league play.  The men's basketball team became the school's first-ever team to be ranked at the NCAA Division II level when they were voted No. 22 in the NABC poll on Dec. 2. The Sea Lions also finished the year ranked No. 5 nationally in 3-point percentage, with a .419 mark from long range. Sam Okhotin led the way by finishing sixth in the nation with a .475 shooting percentage from behind the arc.

Last year, Bush helped guide Josh Rodriguez to PacWest Freshman of the Year honors. Rodriguez ranked fifth in the PacWest with 17.3 points per game and went on to pace the PacWest and rank eighth in NCAA Division II with 6.4 assists per game. He was also third in the league steals (1.9), sixth in 3-point percentage (.418) and third in minutes (34.9) en route to earning PacWest Freshman of the Year honors. He became the first PLNU men's basketball student-athlete to earn the honor.

Upon graduation, Bush joined the men's basketball coaching staff at Edmonds Community College in Edmonds, Wash., where he reacquainted with his former junior college coach Kyle Gray. The team won 20 games in Bush's only season with the team and they qualified for the NWAACC postseason tournament.  Bush worked with travel, skill development, scouting and all other duties of a first year assistant coach.

Bush played two seasons with the Sea Lions, including one season under coach Carr. He played in over 60 games in those two seasons, and averaged 10.1 points per game as a senior. He shot .397 percent from 3-point range and made 71 treys on the season. He was named the team's Sportsmanship Award as a senior.
