SAN DIEGO - Erica Wessels headed in a pass from Lindsay Bollar in the 8th minute of overtime Saturday, lifting the NAIA No. 21-ranked Sea Lions to a 1-0 win over Westmont. The goal broke nearly 99 minutes of scoreless soccer at PLNU Field.

The victory was a much-needed one for Point Loma Nazarene (4-4-4 overall, 2-3-2 GSAC) which could move up three or four spots in the Golden State Athletic Conference standings depending on the outcomes of other GSAC contests today.

Saturday's gamewas played for the most part in the center of the pitch. The two sides combined on just 15 total shots (nine for WC, six for PLNU) with each team taking two shots on goal. None of the first three shots on goal were real threats, however.

Zero-all through regulation, the match went into overtime and looked to be headed for double OT until a late charge by PLNU that wound up as the game-winning drive.

Tiffany Kracy saved two shots on goal for Point Loma; her counterpart, Roxanne Love, turned back one shot on target.

Westmont fell to 6-5-2, 3-3 GSAC with the loss.

The Sea Lions host tenth-ranked Vanguard in the final regular-season home match of the year. That contest begins at 2:00 pm. Five PLNU seniors will be recognized at halftime.
