The No. 7-ranked Sea Lions were swept by third-ranked California Baptist Tuesday evening (25-21, 25-19, 25-20). PLNU slips to 11-2 overall, 1-2 in Golden State Athletic Conference play while the Lancers upped their season mark to 13-0, 3-0 GSAC.
The Lancers had their way for most of the match though the Sea Lions held the advantage through the middle of the third set. But CBU went on an extended run and did not stop until they had wrapped up the set and the match.
PLNU was held to a .142 hitting percentage. The Sea Lions were led by 19 kills from
Tabitha Henken - the only PLNU player that came close to double-figure kills. The sophomore hit .382 and also had five digs.
Kylie Morel led PLNU with 24 assists. She and
Nicole Eiler had 13 digs apiece.
The Lancers hit for .291, though they were limited to a .097 percentage in the final set. Ingrid Carmona paced the winning squad with 13 kills on 27 swings (.370). Shi Fei added nine kills. Two CBU players combined for 34 assists.
California Baptist had the advantage in most categories including kills (42-34), digs (50-48), blocks (6-3) and assists (39-32).
The Sea Lions return to Golden Gym this Saturday when they host No. 10 Azusa Pacific for a 3:00 pm GSAC match.
