BOX SCORE
SAN MARCOS -- After 110 minutes of scoreless play, No. 15-ranked Point Loma Nazarene tied crosstown rivals No. 13-ranked Cal State San Marcos in double overtime in front of a large crowd at Mangrum Field Wednesday.
It was a tight competition as the Sea Lions attempted 11 shots compared to the Cougars' nine. However, PLNU was able to get closer to scoring with five shots on goal as opposed to two by the Cal State San Marcos.
“I felt like out girls played well,” said PLNU Coach
Tim Hall. “I was happy with the effort. I feel like they are getting it, unfortunately, we couldn't finish today.”
PLNU has suffered an offensive power outage to start 2010, scoring just two goals in four matches, though they have allowed just one opposition goal.
In a match where one mistake could cost everything, sophomore All-American goalkeeper
Tiffany Kracy was extremely valuable, recording two saves for the Sea Lions. Kaycee Gunion made five stops for the Cougars.
The tie was the second of the season for Point Loma (1-1-2) and the third for Cal State San Marcos (4-1-3).
The Sea Lions will host Marymount College on Tuesday, Sept. 21 for a game at 4:30 pm.
