SAN DIEGO – Point Loma Nazarene improved to 4-0 on the year after a 1-0 victory over visiting Saint Martin's (Wash.) Saturday afternoon at PLNU Field. The lone goal of the game came off the foot of Codi Cameron ten minutes into the second half.
PLNU made that score stand up thanks to a stingy defensive line of Leah Porter, Jessica Van Loo, Madi White and Erica Wessels that yielded just two shots all day from the Saints, none of which were on goal.
The Sea Lions took six shots in both halves but were empty-handed in opening 45 minutes of action. Finally, in the 54th minute, Kelly Christerson lifted a cross from the right side of the Saint box to the opposite side where Cameron was waiting.
Saint Martin's fell to 0-2 on the season. Saints keeper Gina Cardenas made six saves in goal. Loma keeper Tiffany Kracy was not threatened Saturday.
Point Loma hosts Hawaii-Hilo on Monday for another non-conference match against a NCAA Division II foe, which begins at 11:00 a.m.
