Point Loma takes down Chaminade in three

HONOLULU - The Point Loma volleyball team earned its second straight sweep with a 25-13, 25-16 and 25-22 victory over Chaminade on Wednesday (Oct. 10).

This was also the second consecutive win for the Sea Lions (7-9, 3-4 PacWest) in Hawaii. It moved them into a three-way tie for seventh in the conference standings. Chaminade fell to 11th in the PacWest with a 3-6 record in league play (6-11 overall).

Kelli LeClair had the most efficient match of her career to help Point Loma outhit Chaminade .298 to .094. LeClair hammered down a match-high 13 kills without an error for a .464 hitting percentage over the three-sets. She narrowly missed the double-double as she also had a team-best nine digs.

In addition to their edge in hitting percentage the Sea Lions also outscored the Silverswords by seven on serves. PLNU served up 10 aces. This was the third time this season PLNU has reached double-figures in aces. Point Loma also won the battle at the net outblocking CU 5-3.

Natalie Hamill played a near perfect match with 29 assists to go along with a kill and an ace. Delaney McCraney added nine kills for the Sea Lions. 

The Hawaiian road trip will continue for Point Loma on Friday, Oct. 12 at No. 10 BYU-Hawaii. The match will start at 10:30 p.m.
