Sea Lions stopped at Biola

[Box score]

LA MIRADA, Calif.
- The Point Loma women's basketball team hit a cold shooting stretch in the second half of their game at Biola to fall 59-44 on Wednesday, Nov. 28.

The loss evens the Sea Lions' record at 2-2 on the season as Biola improves to 4-3. The Eagles avenged a loss to PLNU in another non-conference tilt less than two weeks ago, 59-46.

PLNU went up by as many as 10 points in the first half before BU fought back to tie the game at 27-27 at the break. The game was then tied again at 38-38 before the Eagles mounted a 13-0 run which put them on front 51-38 and they never looked back. The Sea Lions shot just 15 percent in the second half.

"We got off to a great start and showed some good signs early," said PLNU head coach Bill Westphal. 'Now we need to work on sustaining our game for 40 minutes.

"Biola is a disciplined and well-coached team," Westphal continued. "They never let up and they deserve their success."

Adijat Adams led Biola with 14 points and 17 rebounds. Nyla Bailey scored 16 points and hauled in seven rebounds to pace the Sea Lions. Carlotta Kloppenburg also added 11 points.

The Sea Lions will now return home and prepare to begin their first season in the Pacific West Conference. They will open the conference schedule at home on Saturday (Dec. 1) against Azusa Pacific. The game will tip at 2:00 p.m. The men's game will follow.
