Point Loma and Domincan battle to 0-0 tie

SAN RAFAEL, Calif. - One hundred and 20 twenty minutes after kickoff, the score remained the same as in minute one as the Point Loma women's soccer team battled Dominican to a 0-0 tie on Saturday, Nov. 3.

PLNU (12-4-2, 9-3-2 PacWest) picked up a point with the tie to remain in third place in the Pacific West Conference with 29 points. Dominican (7-7-3, 6-5-3 PacWest) sits eighth in the conference with 21 points.

Just is in their tie against Hawaii Pacific earlier this year, PLNU dominated its opponent in shots but never found the net. The Sea Lions outshot the Penguins 18-9, including 13-4 on shots on goal.

Penguin goalkeeper Megan Herring came up with big save after big save to keep PLNU off the scoreboard. She made 13 stops, with six of those coming in the first half.

Tiffany Kracy made four saves for Point Loma. She only had to save two balls in regulation before having to stop two crucial shots in the second overtime.

Claire Mathews registered four shots on goals to lead the Sea Lions. Krista Gregory and Kallie Caldwell also each had two shots stopped at the net by Herring. Julianna Bratsberg led Dominican with five shots (two on goal).

This was the regular season finale for the Sea Lions. Next up will be the National Christian Collegiate Athletic Association (NCCAA) regional playoffs. The draw and site will be announced early this week, with the matches beginning on Thursday, Nov. 15, and the title showdown set for Saturday, Nov. 17.
