AZUSA , Calif. - Carlotta Kloppenburg poured in a career-high 27 points but was matched shot for shot by Cal Poly Pomona's JJ Judge as the Point Loma women's basketball team fell, 68-62, to the Broncos on Tuesday (Dec. 18) at the APU Classic.

The Sea Lions have now lost back-to-back game and sit at 3-4 on the season. The win bumped CPP's record to 3-4.

Kloppenburg, in her first game back from an ankle injury, came off the bench to hit seven 3-pointers and 10-of-17 shots overall from the field to lead PLNU. The junior from Lassen, Calif., scored 18 of her 27 points in the second half to help lead the Sea Lions from 17 points down to within one.

CPP led by seven at the half (34-27) and pushed its lead to 17 points with just less than 11 minutes remaining. PLNU then went on a 21-5 run to close the gap to one (63-62) with two minutes remaining. During the run Kloppenburg scored 13 points, including hitting three treys. Callie Rhoads also knocked down two from long range during the offensive outburst.

With Point Loma down just one, Cal Poly Pomona turned to Judge as it had all evening. First she knocked down a 3-pointer to push the lead back to four then knocked down two free throws with 26 left to seal the game. Judge finished the game 8-for-8 from 3-point range and 12-of-17 overall. She scored 36 points and added six rebounds. She was the only student-athlete to reach double-figures for CPP.

"We did a lot of good things against a good Cal Poly Pomona team," Point Loma head coach Bill Westphal said. "They had some good schemes and shot lights out.

"We're finding our stride and are getting better every day," Westphal added. "I appreciate how our team hangs together. That's how we were able to go on a run in the second half and get within one. We have a great group and lots to build on."

Rhoads recorded her second straight game in double-figures for the Sea Lions. She hit three 3-pointers en route to scoring 15 points. Andrea Campbell led all players with a game-high nine rebounds and four blocked shots. Savannah Erskine matched a career-high with seven assists.

The APU Classic will continue for Point Loma on Wednesday, Dec. 19. It will face George Fox at 2:00 p.m.
