RIVERSIDE, Calif. - The Point Loma volleyball team fought hard but fell in four sets to PacWest rival Cal Baptist, 23-25, 25-22, 25-22 and 25-19, on Tuesday (Sept. 25).

Brianna Vieth registered a season-high 15 kills to lead the Sea Lions (5-7, 1-2 PacWest). She also added 11 digs to notch her fourth double-double of the season. Kelli LeClair also got into double-figures in two columns with 11 kills and 13 digs to match Vieth with four double-doubles on the season.

Jeana Holman hit .412 with nine kills and just two errors in 17 chances to lead PLNU. Natalie Hamill came through with 42 assists and Nicole Eiler with 22 digs to pace the Sea Lions in both categories.

"It was an encouraging match despite the loss," said Point Loma head coach Sarah Gustin. "We battled hard against a bigger, more experienced team. We showed heart but just came up short. I was happy with the way our team competed tonight."

Ingrid Carmona led three Lancers in double-figure kills with 20. CBU was able to capitalize on a couple of statistical advantages to come away with the win. Cal Baptist outhit PLNU .323 to .182. The Lancers also won the battle at the net to outblock PLNU 11 to three.

Point Loma will now prepare to face Dixie State on Sept. 29 at 3:00 p.m.

"We are excited for this trip," Gustin continued. "We are growing as a team each match, and we are excited for the chance to face a new opponent on the road in a placed we have never been."
