THIS WEEK:
After beginning their season in mid-November the Point Loma women's basketball team will finally get a chance to host their first home game of the season this Saturday (Dec. 21). The Sea Lions will welcome in Notre Dame de Namur in what will not only be their home opener but their first home Pacific West Conference contest as well. The game is scheduled for a 2:00 p.m. tipoff.

A LOOK AT THE SEA LIONS:
PLNU is 4-4 on the season and has evened its record in the PacWest at 2-2 after winning its past two games on the road. The Sea Lions are averaging 62.9 points per game and leading the PacWest conference in scoring defense at 64.7 ppg. Point Loma paces the league in steals with 14 per game and ranks second in turnover margin (+4.0). PLNU also ranks second in the league in free throw percentage (.711) and fourth in 3-point percentage (.322).
Callie Rhoads leads the Sea Lions and ranks fifth in the league with 16.5 ppg. She is shooting .483 from 3-point range and .750 from the charity stripe. She is also averaging 4.3 rebounds.
Jessica Escorza is eighth in the conference with 14.0 ppg. She ranks amongst the PacWest leaders in free throw attempts (53) and makes (41). She is shooting .774 at the line and also averages 3.0 assists per game.
Savannah Erskine is leading the league in steals (4.9) and ranks second in assists (5.0). She is also eighth in free throw percentage (.833) while averaging 9.4 ppg.
A LOOK AT THE ARGONAUTS:
Notre Dame de Namur is 2-7 on the season and 1-2 in the PacWest. The Argonauts have lost seven of eight after opening the season with a win. This will be the first PacWest conference road contest of the season for NDNU. Jennifer Jasper is averaging 12.1 ppg and 7.9 rebounds to lead NDNU in both categories. Gabrielle Rodriguez (11.6 ppg) and Maya Arellanes (10.8) are also averaging double-figure points for the Argonauts. Notre Dame de Namur has struggled on the glass this season and is being outrebounded by nine boards per game.
NEXT WEEK:
This will be the final game before a competition hiatus for the Sea Lions. PLNU will be off for 11 days before returning to action on January 2 at home against Holy Names at 5:30 p.m.
