[Box score]

LAIE, Hawaii - AJ Ussery recorded his first career double-double with 14 points and 10 rebounds but a dominant second half earned BYU-Hawaii a 75-49 win over the Point Loma men's basketball team on Monday, Feb. 11.

The Sea Lions trailed by just two at halftime but the Seasiders would score the first 16 points of the second half to break the game open. Okesene Ale scored a game-high 26 points, including 20 in the second half, to lead BYUH. He hit 5-of-6 from behind the arc and all five of his shots at the charity stripe while playing just 23 minutes. Bracken Funk added a double-double with 13 points and 12 boards.

Ussery's 14 points and 10 rebounds both paced PLNU. He went 6-for-12 from the field and also dished out three assists. Weston Ehlers notched double-figures in his first game back from injury with 13 points. He went 5-of-8 from the field, which included three treys.

PLNU (4-17, 1-11 PacWest) hung with BYU-Hawaii (11-10, 8-5 PacWest) on the road throughout the first half. The Seasiders took their largest lead of the half at 31-23 but Ehlers proceeded to hit back-to-back 3-pointers in the final 45 seconds of the half to cut the deficit to two heading into halftime.

Turnovers would be the Sea Lions' undoing in the second half. After committing just seven in the opening 20 minutes, PLNU had 14 turnovers in the final 20 minutes. Those 14 second-half turnovers led directly to 21 points for the Seasiders.

The road trip will continue for the Point Loma men's basketball team on Wednesday, Feb. 13 at Chaminade. The game will tipoff at 9:30 p.m. (PST)
