RIVERSIDE, Calif. - California Baptist shot 52 percent from the field to earn a 78-54 win over the Point Loma men's basketball team Thursday night (Feb. 21) in Pacific West Conference play.
Luke Evans scored 15 of his game-high 19 points in the first half to help the Lancers (14-10, 8-8 PacWest) jump out a big lead which they would never relinquish. He went 9-of-11 from the field. Ivan Patterson added 16 points and six rebounds.
Todd Campbell came off the bench to pace PLNU (5-19, 2-14 PacWest) with 10 points and seven rebounds.
Javonte Sales also didn't start but dished out five assists in 17 minutes on the court.
Cal Baptist started strong out of the gate and never let the Sea Lions back into the contest en route to earning the win. CBU scored the first seven points of the game and led 39-21 at the half thanks in part to outscoring PLNU 12-2 on second chance points. The Lancers would build their lead to as much as 31 points in the second half before settling with the 24-point margin of victory.
The Sea Lions will now return home to close out the regular season with a pair of PacWest contests. The first will be Fresno Pacific this Saturday (Feb. 23) at 4:00 p.m. Dixie State will then come to town on Saturday, Mar. 2 as part of Senior Night for the Sea Lions.
