A LOOK AT THE SEA LIONS:
Winners of six straight, and eight of their last nine, the PLNU women's basketball team has moved into seventh in the Pacific West Conference standings with a 9-7 record (13-10 overall). The Sea Lions are not eligible for the PacWest tournament or the NCAA postseason during their transition to NCAA Division II, however they are looking pretty good to qualify for the National Christian Collegiate Athletic Association (NCCAA) West Regional playoffs. With the Sea Lions sweeping in Hawaii and Azusa Pacific falling to Hawaii Pacific, PLNU passed APU in the Burbridge Power Rating (7.196 to 7.0) to climb into the second spot in the region. Both teams are chasing California Baptist who leads the region with a 7.891 Burbridge Rating. A three-team playoff is the likely scenario on March 5-6, with the winner advancing to the NCCAA national tournament March 13-16 in Winona Lake, Indiana.

Callie Rhoads leads PLNU and ranks eighth in the league with 14.5 ppg. She is hitting 45.4 percent of her shots from 3-point range, and 50 percent from the field overall, to rank second and seventh in the PacWest, respectively. She is also fourth in 3-pointers made per game (2.5) and 11th in steals (2.1). Andrea Campbell's 3.0 blocks per game lead the league and helps PLNU pace the conference with 6.3 rejections per contest.

SCOUTING CALIFORNIA BAPTIST:
The Lancers are 18-5 on the season and stand second, one game behind Grand Canyon, in the PacWest standings with a 12-3 conference record. The team is averaging 72.5 ppg and has outscored its opponents by an average of 15.5 points. Simone Holmes leads the team with 14.1 ppg. Myriah Hicks (12.0) and Jasmine Beverly (11.6) are also averaging double-figures for the Lancers.

SCOUTING FRESNO PACIFIC:
The Sunbirds are 4-18 on the season and 4-11 in the PacWest. FPU began the season 0-14 before taking three of four games in Hawaii to snap their losing streak. However, the Sunbirds will enter Saturday's contest with the Sea Lions riding a four-game losing streak. Keairra White leads Fresno Pacific and ranks second in the PacWest with 18.7 ppg. She is the only student-athlete averaging double-figures for FPU. Charde Stevens leads the team with 6.8 rebounds.

NEXT GAMES:
The PLNU women's basketball team will wrap up regular season play next Saturday (Mar. 2) when Dixie State visits Golden Gymnasium. The game will include a tribute to PLNU's seniors. Tipoff is scheduled for 2:00 p.m.
