PacWest play up next for the Sea Lions

THIS WEEK:
Pacific West Conference play begins this week for the Point Loma women's soccer team with a trip to the Bay Area to face Dominican (CA) and Notre Dame de Namur. The Sea Lions will start its 12-match PacWest schedule on Thursday at 2:00 p.m., against Dominican. PLNU will then close out its road trip with a contest against NDNU on Saturday starting at 11:00 a.m.

The matches against Dominican and Notre Dame de Namur will both be available to track through live stats. The Dominican match will also be available on live video stream. A LOOK AT THE SEA LIONS:
Point Loma is 1-3-0 on the season. After starting the season with three losses the Sea Lions got back in the win column last Saturday (Sept. 14) with a 2-0 victory over San Diego Christian. Natalie Swift and Jessica Van Loo scored the two goals for PLNU in the contest and Lupe Herrera earned her first career save. Swift leads PLNU and is tied for second with two goals on the season. She is also third in the conference with four points. Herrera is tied for fifth with 18 saves this year.

A LOOK AT THE PENGUINS:
Dominican is 2-2-1 on the season with all five matches being played thus far at home. In their last match, the Penguins earned a 2-0 shutout over Saint Martin's to even their season record. Lauren Gollnick has scored two of Dominican's three goals this season. Goalkeeper Megan Herring is amongst the best in the conference. She is coming off PacWest Player of the Week honors after registering a pair of shutouts. She leads the PacWest in both goals against average (0.38) and save percentage (.900).

A LOOK AT THE ARGONAUTS:
The Argonauts have started the 2013 season off at 2-3-0. They are 2-1-0 at home and have dropped their only two contests on the road. Adriana Cortes has been the best scorer in the PacWest this season. She leads the league in both goals (five) and assists (10). Her five goals are three more than any other student-athlete. Goalkeeper Amy Rich is fourth in the league with a .852 save percentage.
