SAN DIEGO - Every member of the Point Loma women's basketball team scored and the Sea Lions opened the second half on a 23-4 run to defeat Chaminade 87-51 on Tuesday, Feb. 11.
This was the third straight win for PLNU which improves to 12-9 on the season and to 9-7 in the Pacific West. The loss moves Chaminade to 3-17 on the season and to 3-11 in the PacWest.
Jessica Escorza led a team effort for PLNU in which all 12 student-athletes got in the scoring column. Escorza, in her second game back from injury, went 7-of-9 from the field to post 19 points. She also added two steals, three assists and six rebounds.
She was one of four Sea Lions to reach double-figures scoring.
Carlotta Kloppenburg notched 12 points on four 3-pointers and both
Callie Rhoads and
Abby Boorman added 11 points apiece. Boorman paced the Sea Lions with eight rebounds.
PLNU shot 52 percent in the game and held CUH to just 34 percent shooting. The Sea Lions also won the rebounding battle 39-38 and committed a season-low six turnovers compared to 19 for the Silverswords.
Sabrina Angle led Chaminade with 15 points and Lilia Maio added 14.
PLNU led 32-24 at halftime and quickly extended their lead after the intermission with a 23-4 run to put the game out of reach.
The Sea Lions will be at home again on Thursday, Feb. 13 when they host Hawaii Pacific (14-6, 10-4) at 5:30 p.m.
