Sea Lions host Lancers for Senior Day

THIS WEEK:
It's amazing to think that this is the final game of the 2013-14 regular season for the Point Loma women's basketball team is already here. Tonight at 5:30 p.m. the Sea Lions (16-9, 12-7 PacWest) will face California Baptist (14-10, 12-6 PacWest) in the regular season finale for Point Loma.

The Sea Lions will be looking to defeat Cal Baptist and move up to third place in the Pacific West Conference standings. CBU, which is currently a half-game up on both PLNU and Hawaii Pacific for third place in the conference standings, will be looking to secure the No. 2 seed in the upcoming PacWest Tournament.

A LOOK AT THE SEA LIONS:
Point Loma is playing its best basketball of the season over the past month. The Sea Lions have not lost since Feb. 1 and are currently on a seven-game winning streak. Defense has been the calling card of the Sea Lions all season. They lead the PacWest in opponent field goal percentage (.361) and are second in points allowed (64.8). PLNU is also second in the conference in steals (11.8) and blocks (4.8). Offensively, PLNU is fourth in the conference in points per game (71.4) and field goal percentage (.403).

Savannah Erskine is leading the league in steals (3.9), assists (6.3) and assists-to-turnover ratio (2.0). Abby Boorman paces the league in blocks with 3.0 per game while ranking third with 8.7 rebounds per contest. Callie Rhoads leads PLNU and ranks eighth in the league with 14.3 ppg. She is also second in 3-point percentage (.455) and third in 3-pointers per game (2.4). Jessica Escorza, who returned from injury prior to the Fresno Pacific game, has led the team in scoring in each of the past five contests and is now averaging 15.6 ppg which would rank her fifth in the league if she had enough games to qualify.

A LOOK AT THE LANCERS:
California Baptist comes into the game riding their own four-game winning streak. The Lancers swept three schools from Hawaii at home the other week and have now won six of their last seven. Kamille Diaz leads CBU is scoring with 13.8 ppg. Cassidy Mihalko is also averaging in double-figures with 11.8 ppg. Elise Shelton is pacing the team in rebounding with 7.1 boards per game.
