Box Score SAN DIEGO - The Point Loma volleyball team dropped a three-set decision, 25-21, 25-19 and 25-22, to Central Washington at the GNAC-PacWest Crossover Challenge on Friday, Sept. 12.
Â
This marked just the third time in the past two years that the Sea Lions (3-3) had lost back-to-back matches. The win kept the No. 13 Wildcats on the rise as they have now won six of seven matches to open the season.
Â
CWU used an efficient and near error free afternoon to take the showdown between regional opponents. Despite the Sea Lions outscoring the Wildcats 58.5 to 45.0, CWU was able not make a single unforced hitting error all evening. Their only six attack errors came on PLNU blocks, and they had just three service errors.
Â
With Central Washington playing near flawless volleyball, there was no room for error from Point Loma, but that is exactly what happened as PLNU had 27 hitting errors and nine service errors.
There was nothing to bad to say about
Alyssa Dwyer's offensive performance on Friday though, as the senior middle blocker slammed down 11 kills with only one error in 21 attempts to hit .476.
Delaney McCraney was also efficient with 10 kills and a .348 hitting percentage.
Heather Leavitt added a double-double with 14 kills and 19 digs.
Â
Linden Firethorne paced the Wildcats with 13 kills, while Kiah Jones added 10.
Â
The Sea Lions will be back in action tonight at 8:30 p.m. against Alaska Anchorage.Â
