SAN DIEGO -
Riley Abraham turned in her best game in a Point Loma uniform as the junior post delivered 21 points and 13 rebounds in the Point Loma women's basketball team's 73-55 win over BYU-Hawaii on Saturday, Feb. 14.
Â
Abraham was 9-of-14 from the field and did most of her damage inside to help the Sea Lions (15-10, 13-5 PacWest) outscore the Seasiders (12-10, 9-7 PacWest) 40-10 on points in the paint.
Â
Jessica Escorza also reached the 20-point plateau for the second straight game with 20 points on 8-of-12 shooting. She also had five steals.
Roya Rustamzada paced PLNU with seven assists, while adding four steals.
Amy Ogren also had five steals for the Sea Lions which forced BYU-Hawaii into 26 turnovers.
Â
Brydgette Tatupu-Leopoldo had 20 points in the loss for the Seasiders.
Â
PLNU jumped on BYU-Hawaii early building a 20-8 lead and take a 29-18 at halftime. Point Loma was up double-digits the whole second half, but a 13-2 run late sealed the PacWest victory for the Sea Lions.
Â
The win sealed a spot in the Pacific West Conference postseason tournament for the Sea Lions. Seeding is still very much up in the air.
Â
"It is really important to go into the PacWest tournament playing well," said Point Loma head coach
Bill Westphal. "The next three games are very important to get our rotations down and be ready to play really well in the tournament."
Â
Point Loma will continue its season on Wednesday, Feb. 18 against non-conference opponent Cal State San Marcos at 7:30 p.m.Â
