SAN DIEGO - It was Opening Day with an asterisk for the Point Loma baseball team, and there could not be many player throughout the country that had a better first pair of games than the Sea Lions'
Devin Carter, who hit a triple, three home run and drove in five RBI, as PLNU won the suspended game 4-3 in 12 innings and the regularly schedule game 9-4, on Friday, Feb. 6.

Suspended gameIt was well worth the wait for Sea Lion fans. After the season opener was suspended due to darkness on Thursday, the game resumed in the 11th and
Devin Carter delivered a two-out walk off home run in the 12th to lift PLNU a 4-3 win.

It was the clutch hit of the game for the Sea Lions.
Preston Sands came through in the eighth inning with a two-out, two-run double to tie the game at 3-3 and send it to extra innings.

The Sea Lions' bullpen came up big in the contest with 7.0 innings of two-hit, no-run baseball.
Mickey Dunleavy earned perfect innings in the 11th and 12th, with three strike outs, to earn the victory.

The home run was one of three hits for Carter in the game (3-for-6).
Matt Jervis also had a single, a double and a run scored.

Regularly scheduled gameDevin Carter stayed hot in Friday's regularly scheduled game, going 4-for-5 with a triple, two home runs and four RBI, to help lead Point Loma to a 9-4 win over Western Oregon.

Carter was instrumental early as the Sea Lions jumped out to a 6-0 lead. In the first he knocked in
Tyler Baker on an RBI-groundout and then in the second he capped off a five-run PLNU outburst with a three-run homer down the left field line which landed in nearly the exact location as his walk off shot. He would add a solo homer in the fourth.

No. 2 hitter
AJ Derr helped set the table in front of the cleanup hitter Carter. He reached base in four of his five play appearance, with two walks and two hits. He also stole a base, drove in three runs and scored another.

Eric Pierce (1-0) earned the win in his first career start for the Sea Lions. He gave up six hits and one run over five innings while striking out four. Clark McKitrick (0-1) took the loss for WOU with six runs allowed (two earned) in 1.2 innings pitched.

Joseph Keller also collected two hits and scored two runs for the Sea Lions, while
Tyler Baker reached base in three of his plate appearances and scored two runs.
Anthony Torres added two stolen bases.

Matt Taylor and Cody Sullivan each posted three hits for the Wolves.
