The Sea Lions dropped their final contest, after having won eight of their nine previous games. PLNU will face the No. 4 seed, and No. 23 nationally ranked, BYU-Hawaii in the first round on Thursday, Mar. 5 at 6:15 p.m.

A LOOK AT THE SEA LIONS:The 2014-15 season was circled on the calendar for years for the PLNU men's basketball team, as it would be the Sea Lions' first chance at postseason play after completing the transition process from NAIA to NCAA Division II. The Sea Lions took full advantage of their opportunity this season by posting a 21-7 record (13-7 PacWest) and being ranked No. 8 in all three West Region polls. The Sea Lions knocked off some other top teams in the region including GNAC champion Western Oregon and Cal Poly Pomona which finished second in the CCAA.
Hayden Lescault, who was named first team All-PacWest this season, tied for the team-lead with 12.0 points per game and led the PacWest with 1.9 steals per game. The senior guard from Folsom, Calif., shoots .471 percent from the field and .789 percentage from the charity stripe.
Marek Klassen, who picked up third team all-conference honors, averages 11.1 ppg and shoots .453 percent from 3-point range. Junior forward
Sam Okhotin led the PacWest and ranked fourth in the NCAA with a .493 3-point shooting percentage.
As a team, PLNU led the PacWest in scoring defense with 63.3 ppg and in 3-point field goal percentage at .425. They held opponents to a .427 shooting percentage to rank fourth in the league, and were second in 3-point defense at .322 percent.
FIRST ROUND MATCHUP - BYU-Hawaii:The Seasiders earned the No. 4 seed in the PacWest tournament after putting together a 21-5 record, with a 15-5 mark in conference play. BYU-Hawaii was leading the conference until they came to southern California and lost three straight games to Azusa Pacific, PLNU and Cal Baptist. Pablo Coro, a first team All-PacWest selection, leads the Seasiders with 16.2 ppg. Daniel Berger was named to the second team after averaging 14.0 ppg. As a team, BYU-Hawaii led the PacWest in scoring with 88.9 ppg and ranked second with a .499 shooting percentage.
Last meeting: PLNU defeated BYU-Hawaii 85-82 on Feb. 14 in Golden Gym in the only meeting of the season between the teams. The Sea Lions scored the final 13 points of the game to complete the miraculous comeback. Lescault scored a season-high 27 points in the game, and Okhotin hit five 3-pointers, including two late in the Sea Lions' comeback run. PLNU struggled on the boards in the game, as they were outrebounded 39-25. PLNU took advantage of its long range shooting to knock down 13-of-27 shots from behind the arc in the contest.
NEXT GAME:The winner of the PLNU and BYU-Hawaii contest will face the No. 1 seed, Dixie State, on Friday at 6:15 p.m.
