The No. 24 Point Loma volleyball team will continue PacWest play this week when it travels to Concordia (CA) on Thursday, Sept. 24 and to conference preseason favorite California Baptist on Saturday, Sept. 26. Both matches will start at 7:00 p.m.

A look at the Sea Lions
Point Loma remained at No. 24 on the AVCA national poll for the second straight week. The Sea Lions opened PacWest play last week by sweeping Dixie State at home to improve to 6-3 on the season (1-0 PacWest). PLNU has earned wins this season against No. 10 Colorado Mesa, UC San Diego, defending GNAC champion Northwest Nazarene and NCAA West Regional runner-up Dixie State.
 
Senior outside hitter Heather Leavitt, the MVP of the Seaside Invitational, leads the PacWest conference with 4.67 kills per set. Senior setter Savannah Wedemeyer is second in the league with 11.06 assists per set. Bree Vieth ranks fourth in aces (0.45) and Wedemeyer is seventh (0.39).  Christin Fisher is fourth with 4.39 digs. As a team, PLNU leads the PacWest with 14.33 assists and 15.23 kills per set. The Sea Lions also rank second in digs (19.4).
 
A look at the Eagles
Concordia (CA) is 4-7 on the season and 0-2 in the PacWest. Rachel Flynn leads the team with 4.17 kills per set while posting a .219 hitting percentage. The Eagles are sixth in the PacWest in kills (12.33) and eighth in digs (14.91).
 
A look at the Lancers
California Baptist is 8-2 on the season and 1-1 in the PacWest. The Lancers opened conference play with a win over Dixie State (3-2) before losing in four sets to Azusa Pacific. Lauren Hackett leads the squad with 4.16 kills per set. Jenna Perry has a .313 hitting percentage to go along with 3.51 kills per set. As a team, CBU leads the PacWest in hitting percentage (.261), and ranks second in opponent hitting percentage (.129) and assists (12.86).
 
Next week
The Sea Lions will welcome in Azusa Pacific on Wednesday, Sept. 30 at 7:00 p.m., before traveling to Fresno Pacific on Saturday, Oct. 3.
