A look at the Sea LionsPoint Loma is not off to the start it had hoped in PacWest play. The Sea Lions swept Dixie State to open their PacWest season, but have since lost back-to-back matches to Concordia (CA) and California Baptist to fall to 6-5 on the season (1-2 PacWest). The Sea Lions also fell out of the top 25 after being ranked the last three week. PLNU climbed as high as No. 22.

Senior outside hitter
Heather Leavitt leads the PacWest conference with 4.55 kills per set. She has double-figure kills in every match this season, and has recorded double-doubles with kills and digs in eight of the 11 contests. Senior setter
Savannah Wedemeyer is second in the league with 11.13 assists and 0.35 aces per set.
Bree Vieth ranks sixth in aces (0.4) and
Christin Fisher is fourth in digs (4.5). As a team, PLNU leads the PacWest with 13.97 assists, 14.78 kills and 18.86 digs per set.

A look at the CougarsAzusa Pacific is 7-4 on the season. The Cougars started the season with four straight losses before bouncing back to win seven straight. They will put that winning streak on the line against PLNU on Wednesday. APU has opened the PacWest season with a perfect 3-0 record, including knocking off CBU. Mattie Shelford leads the team with 2.97 kills per set. Ashley Midland is just behind her with 2.35 kills and a team-leading .382 hitting percentage. As a team, APU is second in the PacWest in blocks (2.35).

A look at the SunbirdsFresno Pacific is 1-7 on the season and 1-2 in the PacWest. FPU started the year with five losses before earning their only victory of the year over Dominican (CA) in the PacWest opener. Gabriela Macedo leads the team with 2.52 kills per set.

Next weekPLNU will return home after the FPU match for their longest homestand of the year. PLNU will welcome in six opponents over two weeks, starting with Hawaii Pacific (9-3, 4-0 PacWest) on Monday, Oct. 5 at 7:00 p.m.Â
