LA JOLLA, Calif. - UC San Diego scored in the 88th minute to defeat the Point Loma women's soccer team 1-0 on Saturday, Sept. 5.

The Tritons (2-0-0) squeezed out the victory thanks to freshman Mary Reilly who netted her first collegiate goal on an unassisted shot from the left side.

Up to that score PLNU (1-1-0) had dominated the match statistically. The Sea Lions outshot the Tritons 9-3, including 4-1 on shots on goal, and five more corner kicks (6-1).

Rachel Witz each had two shots. Point Loma was even better in the first half where it outshot UCSD 6-1 but could not find the net.

Kelcie Brodsky earned the shutout for the Tritons with four saves.
Ariel Oriarte had one save in the losing effort for Point Loma.

The Point Loma women's soccer team will now return to the campus of PLNU to prepare for its home opener against Cal State LA on Tuesday, Sept. 8 at 4:30 p.m.Â
