Mitch Wheelon's first goal of the season completed a 3-2 comeback victory for the Point Loma men's soccer over Hawaii Hilo on Saturday, Oct. 29.

PLNU (8-5-4, 7-4-1 PacWest) went undefeated in Hawaii and has won three straight games to move into sole possession of third place in the PacWest. The loss drops Hawaii Hilo to 1-13-1 (0-10-1 PacWest).

Point Loma fell behind 2-0 in the 27th minute, but
Eduardo Gallardo and
Nico Tagaloa scored in the 32nd and 35th minutes, respectively, to tie the match before the half. It was the eighth goal of the season for Tagaloa, and the second for Gallardo.

Wheelon's game-winner came in the 63rd minute on a great run down the left sideline. The junior found a crease in the defense and took a perfect shot that eluded the goalie and snuck into the net for the goal.

The three goals capped off a great offensive performance for Point Loma. It outshot Hawaii Hilo 16-4, including 11-2 on shots on goal. PLNU also had 14 corner kicks compared to one for the Vulcans. Cassidy Dixon had eight saves for UHH.
Dylan Roberts did not make a save for Point Loma.

Point Loma will head back to the main land to take on Azusa Pacific on Friday, Nov. 4 at 7:30 p.m., in the season finale.Â
