The Point Loma men's basketball team will play a pair of PacWest Conference games this week before going on a nine-day competition hiatus. The Sea Lions will host Holy Names on Saturday, Dec. 17 at 4 p.m., before traveling to Dixie State on Monday, Dec. 19 for a 6:30 p.m. (PST) tipoff.

A look at the Sea Lions
Point Loma is 4-5 on the season and 1-2 in the PacWest.
Josh Rodriguez is leading the Sea Lions and ranked eighth in the PacWest with 16.3 points per game. He is also pacing the league with 5.1 assists and is fifth in steals (1.67 spg).
Vince Boumann has slipped back to fourth in the PacWest in rebounding with 8.4 boards per game. He is also the only other Sea Lion student-athlete in double-figures with 13.1 ppg. He is shooting .620 percent from the field to rank second in the league.

As a team, PLNU is averaging 71.8 ppg while allowing 72.7 ppg. The Sea Lions' biggest edge comes in the rebounding category where it collects 6.7 more boards than its opponent per game. Point Loma is shooting .434 percent from the field and .319 percent from behind the arc.

A look at the Hawks
Holy Names is 1-9 on the season and 0-3 in the PacWest. Jason Webster leads the team with 16.2 points per game. She is shooting .472 percent from the field and .500 from 3-point range (15-of-30). He also hauls down 4.2 rebounds. Jewels Sanders is the only other Hawk in double-figures with 13.1 ppg. He is shooting .805 percent from the free throw line. As a team, HNU averaged 67.7 ppg and allows 78.3 ppg. It is also being outrebounded by 9.4 boards per game.

A look at the Trailblazers
Dixie State is 5-4 on the season and 2-1 in the PacWest. After opening the conference play with two straight wins, DSU dropped its last game to Azusa Pacific in overtime 104-103. Trevor Hill is leading the team in nearly every major category. He is averaging 16.3 ppg, 8.7 rebounds and 4.8 assists. Josh Fuller (12.9), Brandon Miller (11.8), Brandon Simister (11.2) and Quincy Mathews (10.0) are also all averaging in double-figures. As a team, Dixie State is putting up 77.8 ppg and allowing 77.9 ppg. They are shooting .445 percent from the field and .300 percent from 3-point range.

Next games
Point Loma will be on Christmas break next week before resuming play on Dec. 29 with a non-conference game against crosstown opponent San Diego Christian at 7:30 p.m. The Sea Lions will jump back into PacWest play on Jan. 3 in a contest at Holy Names. Â
