Box Score FRESNO, Calif. - Basketball is all a game of runs, and the Point Loma men's basketball team chose the perfect time to put together one of their best runs of the season. Trailing throughout the entire second half, PLNU went on a 25-6 run within the final nine minutes of the game to turn a five-point deficit into a convincing 73-62 victory at Fresno Pacific. (Dec. 3)

The win evens the Sea Lions' season record at 4-4 and their PacWest record at 1-1. The loss drops FPU to 1-6 on the season and to 1-1 in the PacWest.

Vince Boumann led all scorers with 16 points on 5-of-6 shooting. He also went 6-of-8 at the free throw line and paced all players with seven rebounds. He was one of six Sea Lions to record at least five rebounds in the game. That effort helped Point Loma outboard FPU 40-25. That led to a 15-6 advantage for Point Loma in offensive rebounds and a 23-8 edge in second chance points.

Tanner Lancona also helped the Sea Lions outscore the Sunbirds by 24 points from beyond the arc. Lancona was 4-of-8 from 3-point range en route to scoring 14 points.
Trevor Peterson added three more treys, 11 points and six rebounds.

Spencer Krannitz paced the Sunbirds with 11 points. RJ Horn was the other FPU student-athlete in double-figures as he posted 10 points on 4-of-7 shooting.

After an even first half, Fresno Pacific took its largest lead of the game at seven points (39-32) early in the second half. The Sea Lions stayed close but could not retake the lead until their big run. Trailing 53-47 with 9:11 remaining, PLNU found its stroke from behind the arc and its rhythm on defense to get the win. Point Loma went 5-of-7 from 3-point range down the stretch and allowed just three total baskets to earn the road win.

Point Loma will be back on the road again next week when it travels to Concordia (4-4, 1-0 PacWest) on Saturday, Dec. 10 for a 7:30 p.m. tipoff.Â
