Josh Rodriguez capped off his amazing freshman year by hitting the 30-point plateau for the second time this season but the Point Loma men's basketball team's season still ended in a 92-86 loss at Chaminiade (Feb. 27).

Point Loma completes its 2015-16 campaign at 13-14 and 8-12 in the PacWest. Even with the win, Chaminade (12-15) was edged out for the final spot in the PacWest Championships by Dominican (CA). Both teams went 10-10 in PacWest play this season but DUC owned the tiebreaker for the postseason.

Rodriguez scored 20 of his 30 points in the second half when PLNU was trying to erase a deficit which grew to as many as 18 points. The Sea Lions kept chipping away at the lead and cut it to six (86-80) on a 3-pointer by Rodriguez with 1:24 remaining. The Silverswords prevented any hopes of PLNU taking the lead by going 4-of-5 at the free throw line in the final 39 seconds.

Rodriguez hit a career-high five 3-pointers and was 11-of-20 from the field en route to scoring 30 points. He was one short of his career-high, which he set at Fresno Pacific on Jan. 23. The freshman added five rebounds, four assists and three steals.
Aaron Roedl led Point Loma with five assists. He also notched 11 points and six rebounds.
Mike Planeta matched his season-high with four 3-pointers. He scored 16 points.
Zach Burnham just missed a double-double with 14 points and nine rebounds. He also had four assists.

Kuany Kuany led Chaminade with 18 points on 7-of-8 shooting. Kevin Hu was also 7-of-8 from the field to chip in with 17 points.Â
