RIVERSIDE, Calif. -
Harrison Ramey's sacrifice fly in the top of the 10th lifted the Point Loma baseball team over PacWest-leader California Baptist, 7-6, in the opener, but the Sea Lions had to settle for a doubleheader split after the Lancers took finale, 10-5 (Apr. 23).
Â
PLNU is now 24-16 on the season and 13-13 in conference. California Baptist remains in first place in the PacWest at 23-5 (33-9 overall).

Game 1
Harrison Ramey's 10th inning sacrifice fly to score
Colby Kaneshiro completed the Sea Lions' 7-6 victory in the opener.
Â
Kaneshiro had a one-out single then
Tanner Handa and
AJ Derr drew back-to-back walks to set up the runner at third and less than one out situation for Ramey, who delivered the game-winning run and his 19th run batted in of the season.
Â
Even before Ramey untied the game in extra innings, PLNU had to comeback two different times to force extras. Point Loma originally fought back from a 1-0 deficit with a four-run fifth inning highlighted by
AJ Derr's 0-2 double and
Matt Jervis' bases loaded walk. That lead would be short-lived as CBU scored five in its half of the fifth to go back on top 6-4 where it remained until the top of the eighth when Mike Gorder's two-run shot tied the game at 6-6.
Â
Gordner was the only Sea Lion to record a multi-hit game, but eight of the nine starters had a hit. He finished 2-for-5 with a home run, two RBI and a run scored. Antonio Chavarria and Ryan Williams each had three hits for the Lancers.
Â
John Shurance (1-0) earned the win out of the bullpen with three scoreless innings of relief. He allowed just two hits and a walk while striking out two to keep CBU off the scoreboard while the Sea Lions mounted their comeback. Brody Robinson (0-1) took the loss for the Lancers after being charged with two hits, two walk and the game-winning run in two innings of work.
Â
Game 2
California Baptist scored in each of the first four innings to build a 10-2 lead in the seven-inning series finale and went on to win 10-5.
Â
Mark Sanchez, the offensive hero from the game at Angels Stadium, went 3-for-3 with a home run, two RBI and two runs scored. AJ David was 2-for-4 with a double, home run and also drove in a pair of runs.
Â
Kellen Sheppard hit his fifth home run of the season for Point Loma in the top of the seventh to drive in a pair of runs.
Tanner Handa was 2-for-3 as was the only Sea Lion to have a multi-hit game.
Â
Travis Booth (4-4) earned the win for CBU. He went 5.2 innings allowing three hits and three runs (two earned) while walking five and striking out three.
Nathan Bennett (2-1) took his first loss of the season for PLNU.
Â
