LA JOLLA, Calif. - The Point Loma volleyball team dropped a five-set match to rival Northwest Nazarene, 25-20, 12-25, 23-25, 25-16 and 15-10, at the D2 West Region Showcase on Saturday, Sept. 10.
The victory kept NNU undefeated at 7-0, while PLNU fell to 1-6.
Ashlynn Fresques recorded her second double-double of the year with a career-high 19 kills and 13 digs. Her 23.5 points led all scorers.
Brianna Sizemore also had a double-double with 13 kills and 18 digs. Alyssa Rifilatio added a career-best 15 kills, while
Cara Keturakis also had a career-night with 55 assists.
Christin Fisher added 26 digs and now has 145 on the season. She is just 274 digs away from breaking the school record.
Madi Farrell had 19 kills to lead three Crusaders in double-figures.
Point Loma actually had more points than NNU in the match (79 to 69.5) but were again hurt by unforced errors, such as 12 services errors to just one ace.
PLNU will be back in action tonight to face UC San Diego at 7:00 p.m.
