LA JOLLA, Calif. - The Point Loma men's soccer team suffered its first defeat of the 2016 season when it fell on the road to crosstown rival UC San Diego, 1-0, on Wednesday, Sept. 13.

The Sea Lions complete the non-conference portion of its schedule at 1-1-3. The victory allowed the Tritons to stay perfect on the season at 5-0-0.

Sam Palano scored the only goal of the match in the 32nd minute. He received a pass from Christian Cordell and shot it from the left side of the field into the far side of the net for the score. This was just the second goal the Sea Lions have yielded all year.

PLNU looked for the equalizing goal the rest of the match but it eluded them on the road. The Sea Lions had some good looks but could not covert one for a goal. PLNU is now on a streak of 335 minutes since its last score.

Michael Lambert had one save in the contest for Point Loma. His season save percentage stands at .917 percent. Cameron McElfresh added one save for UCSD.

Point Loma will welcome in Westmont for an exhibition match on Saturday, Sept. 17 before opening PacWest play at California Baptist on Thursday, Sept. 22 at 12:30 p.m.Â
