SAN DIEGO – PLNU hosted the Vulcans of Hawaii Hilo on Wednesday night winning the match 3-0. The Sea Lions trailed early in the first set but would use two significant runs to take the lead and push the set wide open, winning 25-13. The Vulcan would keep the second set closer but the Sea Lions were able to get some crucial points late to take the set 25-19. Point Loma would close it out in straight sets with a 25-21 third set victory.
Jaime Cymbaluk led the Sea Lions with 11 kills, hitting .400 for the match.
Cara Keturakis would make her mark on the match with 34 assists, eight digs, and six kills. The defense was a balanced effort with
Holley Persson leading the way with 21 digs and
Megan Angerstein adding nine digs to the effort. The Sea Lions had one of their best blocking games of the season with 12 block assists as a team.

With the first set tied 9-9, Point Loma went on a five-point run to open up the game and would not look back.
PacWest Implications
Both teams are in the bottom half of the conference standings, with the loss the Vulcans drop to 5-11 in conference play which leaves them in 11
th place. Even with the win the Sea Lions are still in 10
th place with their 7-10 record.
