LAIE, Hawaii - In a game in which the Sea Lions needed everyone to step up, they had one of their best all-around team performances of the season to earn an 84-68 victory over BYU-Hawaii, on Monday, Feb. 20.

The win snaps a three-game slide for the Sea Lions (14-12, 10-9 PacWest) and keeps them in contention for the No. 5 seed in the upcoming PacWest Conference tournament. The loss ends BYU-Hawaii's season at 6-20 (4-16 PacWest).

Six Sea Lions scored nine or more points, led by
Mike Planeta with 16, to step up in a game critical to PLNU's postseason chances.
Sterling Somers was the hero in the first half, scoring all 14 of his points, including hitting a go-ahead 3-pointer as time expired before halftime. This game the Sea Lions the momentum, and the lead for good.

Point Loma would open the second half on a 20-7 run to push their lead to 15 points (62-47) with just under 10 minutes remaining. BYU-Hawaii would score back-to-back baskets to cut the margin to 11, but
Yusuf Shehata answered with a 3-pointer and the Seasiders would never cut the lead to single-digits. PLNU outscored BYU-Hawaii 42-26 in the second half.

Planeta notched 11 of his game-high 16 points in the second half. He went 4-of-6 from behind the arc and also added six rebounds.
Zach Burnham followed up his double-double on Saturday with another 15 points on Monday. He was 7-of-8 from the field, while throwing down four dunks. He also had five assists and five rebounds.
Josh Rodriguez dished out seven assists to go along with his 10 points (4-of-7). His starting backcourt mate,
Trevor Peterson, added 10 points and seven rebounds.
Tanner Lancona matched Peterson for the team-high with seven rebounds, and he also added nine points.
Point Loma dominated the glass, outrebounding BYU-Hawaii 42-29. PLNU finished the game shooting 54.8 percent from the field, while BYUH shot just 38.8 percent.

Caeleb Roney and D McCleary paced the Seasiders with 16 points apiece. Tanner Nelson also added 11. This was the final game in the history of the BYU-Hawaii men's basketball program as the school will be discounting its athletic programs after this season. Â Â

PLNU will get ready for a challenge to close out the 2016-17 regular season as it travels to No. 5 nationally ranked California Baptist to face the Lancers on Fox Sports One on Saturday, Feb. 25 at 8 p.m.Â
