Lacey, Wash.—The Sea Lions traveled to Washington to participate in the D2 West Region Showcase this weekend. Their first game matched them against the Yellowjackets of Montana State University-Billings. While Point Loma was able to keep the sets close they were unable to find a way to win, falling in straight sets.
Â
The Sea Lions were paced by
Julia Malinas on offense and
Holley Persson on defense, who each had one of their best performances of their freshmen seasons. Even with those performances, errors and missteps kept Point Loma from being able to get the points needed to win. The team is young and they still need to take that next step to finish games strong.

Scott's Thoughts
On the game overall:
"We are struggling to have a killer instinct in the high pressure situations. We are a young team and experience can only happen with more experience on the floor, so we must continue with the process."
On the positives of the game:
"Our blocking was fantastic, so we hope that can be something solid we can hang our hat on moving forward. Julia played great. The
Julia Malinas we all know from practice showed up today."
