FRESNO, Calif.–Coming off of a huge win over Azusa Pacific at home, the Sea Lions headed on the road looking to extend their winning streak against the Sunbirds of Fresno Pacific. Continuing their momentum from Tuesday's big win, Point Loma dominated in a three-set win over FPU. The Sea Lions put together a solid defensive effort, continuing their great blocking, and held the Sunbirds to a .131 hitting percentage.
Point Loma put together a five and a seven-point run to take the early 16-8 lead in set one before Fresno Pacific found a couple of runs themselves to cut into the lead. The lead was too much for the Sunbirds to overcome as PLNU took set one, 25-21. Set two was all Point Loma as they put together a .310 hitting percentage as a team and went up 2-0 in the match on a 25-17 set two win. Set three was once again dominated early by the Sea Lions who were up 23-15 before FPU put together a 7-1 run before PLNU put the game away.
Madie Fox had another solid game with nine kills on a .533 hitting percentage.
Rachael Schlect led the team with 10 kills, adding four digs and two block assists.
Kayla Chapman totaled six blocks, one solo, as well as seven kills.
Courtney Dyer dominated on defense, totaling 24 digs as well as earning three service aces.

Scott's Thoughts
On facing FPU twice in two weeks: "Playing a team that close together, means you generally know what is going to be happening, unless one team decides to make some extreme changes in who they are which is pretty rare this late in the season. You know what is going to happen in game, it's a matter of execution. That is what I really love about these matches, they are a little more tactical."
On the team's high level of execution: "It was kind of a weird flow to the game. Both teams had a few runs that kind of extended longer than they should have. We felt pretty confident as we were in the moment and when we were able to grind out the long rallies. That's where we owned the match tonight."
On the growth of the young players: "There's no denying we had some early losses this season, but it is starting to develop into the season we were hoping for and, honestly, expecting. They are responding really well by moving to the next match rather than getting wrapped up in the last one. We were especially worried about them coming out of the APU match. It was a good victory and I was worried we were going to get stuck feeling good about ourselves but we were able to move on."
On facing Biola next week: "They are even hotter than we are. The two of us have the two longest win streaks of the year and both teams are in those win streaks now. It's a nice thing that we are going to be able to talk about with the team, as good as this feels we are going to their gym, it's a revenge match for them, and they are even hotter than we are. So, it's a matter of moving on once again and getting ready for that match."
