Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

PENALTY KICK HELPS PLNU EARN POINT ON THE ROAD

HONOLULU - Penalty kicks have treated the Point Loma men's soccer team very well this season, especially when it is Tim Siegfried taking the shot. The sophomore from Germany converted on his seventh penalty kick goal of the season to help PLNU earn a 1-1 tie at Chaminade on Saturday, Oct. 20.

Point Loma went down 1-0 in the 54th minute on a goal by the Silverswords' Tyler Ebisuya. It was not until the 79th minute that Point Loma got the equalizer. Indiana Fuller broke through the defense and was dragged down from behind to give Siegfried and PLNU earned the right to take the penalty kick. Siegfried lined up that shot, and even though the goalkeeper picked the right direction, Siegfried was able to sneak it just past his outstretched hands for the score.

The score would remain locked at 1-1 through the rest of regulation and overtime resulting in PLNU's first tie of the season and Chaminade's second.

Wiktor Lasota made seven saves for Point Loma, including two in the second overtime. Michael Stafford had six stops for the Silverswords.

Words from coach Wolf
On the tie: "We are at a spot where we can't drop anything so we do see this more as two points lost as opposed to a point won. It was a disappointing result for us."

On the match and the location: "That was a physical place to play. It was hot and physically demanding, which played a factor in the match. You can see it with the discrepancy in shots by the half. "

On converting penalty kicks: "We had a bunch of them this year and Tim has been great taking them."

On the next match: "We have just struggled to get things right this year, but we have another chance on Tuesday to get full points. Hopefully we can finish on a high note here."
