SAN DIEGO–Coming off of a tough loss at Biola on Friday night, the Sea Lions looked to bounce back in a home match against Concordia Irvine. With less than a 24-hour turnaround the team had to brush off the loss and prepare for a tough test from the Eagles, who pushed the match in Irvine to five sets. PLNU was able to learn from their last match with Concordia and put together a solid effort on their way to a four-set victory to sweep the season series.
The Eagles held the edge early in set one, going up 11-9 before the Sea Lions went on a five-point run to take the 14-11 lead. The team used that momentum and solid play from their middles to take the first set. Point Loma continued to roll through the second set finding a way to win the set 25-22, taking the 2-0 set lead. Set three saw the Sea Lions struggle with errors, the team had more hitting errors than kills, and the Eagles were able to come away with the 25-21 win. Point Loma bounced back in set four taking a big lead early and held off a late comeback to take the match with a 25-23 win.
Madie Fox and
Jaime Cymbaluk led the Sea Lions with 12 kills each.
Rachael Schlect also recorded double-digit kills tallying 11 kills to go along with seven digs and two aces. The team also totaled 12 blocks on the night, Fox led the way with six block assists while Schlect added a solo block and three block assists.

PacWest Implications
At 13-4, the Sea Lions currently sit in fifth place in the conference standings, but are only two games out of first place. Point Loma would need to win out and have other teams take losses in order to capture the PacWest title, but the team is on pace for their best conference finish since 2015.
Turning Point
After losing set three, the Sea Lions started set four on a 10-4 run that pushed the momentum in their favor.
