SAN DIEGO – In their last match of the season, Point Loma hosted Dominican (CA) in hopes of securing one of their best records in recent history. The Sea Lions would do just that, getting the sweep and securing their best season since going 20-10 in 2015. While PLNU did earn the sweep, it was no easy win as the Penguins pushed Point Loma for every point.
Set one was a defensive battle as the Sea Lions earned the 30-26 dig advantage, with
Courtney Dyer picking up 11 of her team-high 26 digs in the set. Set two was a marathon as the teams battled in extra points, with PLNU earning the 31-29 set win.
Jaime Cymbaluk put down seven of her 12 kills in the set. The third set was another battle but Point Loma put together their best offensive set, hitting .324 as a team, with 16 kills and only four errors. Senior,
Kayla Chapman went 5-of-5 in the set on her way to a .571 hitting percentage for the match.
Cara Keturakis earned a double-double leading the offense with 42 assists and 11 digs.
Rachael Schlect also notched a double-double coming away with 12 kills and 10 digs on the night. In her final game as a Sea Lion,
