SAN DIEGO - The Point Loma women's basketball team earned the No. 9 ranking in the initial NCAA West Region poll, which was released on Wednesday, Feb. 14.
 
PLNU, which is on a five-game winning streak, is 15-9 on the season and 10-7 in the PacWest. The Sea Lions also boast one of the top defenses, not just in the league, but in the country. PLNU leads the nation with 6.8 blocked shots per game and are 10th in field goal percentage defense (.347).
 
The Sea Lions are one of three teams from the PacWest ranked in the initial regional poll. Azusa Pacific sits atop the poll at 22-3. Hawaii Pacific is third at 19-2. To see the complete NCAA West Region poll, click here.
 
The PLNU women's basketball team has three games left in the regular season. The Sea Lions will play at Biola on Thursday, Feb. 15, before closing the year out at home against Hawaii Hilo (Feb. 17) and Dixie State (Feb. 24).
