LA MIRADA, Calif. –
Adam Rios drove in three runs and
Stephen Young allowed just two unearned runs in his six innings of work to help lead Point Loma to a 5-4 victory in the series finale against Biola.
Point Loma built a 4-2 lead on an RBI-single from Rios in the second, a sacrifice fly from
Travis Takata in the third and two-run homer by Rios in the fourth. An
Adrian Collazo run-scoring single in the seventh would extend the lead to 5-2.
The score would remain that way until the bottom of the ninth when Biola rallied for two runs, cutting the Sea Lions' lead to 5-4 on a two-run home run by Jerron Largusa. After another single by the Eagles brought the go-ahead run to the plate, coach
Joe Schaefer called in
John Balliet. He struck out the only batter he faced on three pitches, to post his fifth save of the season.
Young (4-2) picked up his fourth straight victory in as many starts. He allowed six hits and two unearned runs over six innings of work. He walked two and struck out four. Biola starter, Wyatt Haccou (3-2), took the loss after being charged with six hits and four runs in 4.1 innings.
Rios finished the game 2-for-4 with a home run, three RBI and a run scored.
Micah Pries reached base three times as he collected two hits and was hit by a pitch. He also added a stolen base. Jacob Portaro led Biola with three hits.
